Save Kiara's jungle trail association

Kiara routes - Taman Tun Dr. Ismail, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

You might have heard of the news about our lovely (Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur) DBKL having plans of reconstructing Kiara jungle for horse trails where all MTBers enjoy riding. The plan is confirmed and it will probably take a few years. There will be no MTBer's trails anymore as they have already started destroying most of our trails already.

For those who rode in Kiara and would love to ride in Kiara again, come and ride more before its gone.

And if you happen to be here in KL this Saturday (10th Feb), join us at a mamak called Devi's Corner, Sri Hartamas (near Kiara) to discuss about what and how and who to reserve our lovely MTB trails.

Ride ON!!!

more info, please visit: tribaltalk
Tawatchai scales a new mountain – on his bike

Published on August 29, 2005

[MOUNTAIN BIKES] Thai SEA Games rider Tawatchai Masae lived up to
his ranking by comfortably winning the 48-kilometre cross-country
Competition Bike event at the Bhumibol Dam Invitation International
Mountain Bike Championship in Tak yesterday.

A strong field consisting of elite riders from across the country,
including SEA Games team riders Thanawat Sammana and Saeri Leungsiri,
drew a large crowd of more than 1,000 at the biggest dam in the
country, which is about 60 kilometres from Tak.

The riders faced a stern test as they had to ride three rounds of a
tough 16km route which wound its way along the hills around the dam.

After the starting gun, defending champion Thanawat of the Cannondale
team broke away and took an early lead. However, Cannondale’s
Tawatchai, who was rated as the Kingdom’s top rider, took the lead from
his team-mate in the middle of the first round and then never looked
back.

Tawatchai crossed the fini...

ulu sembawang ride 280805

location : ulu sembawang, woodlands, singapore.
time : 28.08.2005 Sunday (0800 - 1030)
distance : approx 13km.
weather : a bright sunday morning.
leader : blackman paul
participants : 8 riders + 16 legs + 8 bikes.

hill-climbing lover like daniel and powerful leg like jalaini, this place is paradise. the terrain here are mostly rocky hill. trail full of loose stones. downhills are quite fun, bumpy and dangerous if ur steer control is not good. ha, this is first time i encounter tyre puncture since i do off road riding. anyway the ride distance is short (only +/-13km), but for us, it's already like 20km plus!!!

Opening up new trails in SG

Last saturday i met one of my relatives who works for nparks. His area of work centres on trees.

I spoke to him abt getting more MTB trails. aka official.

His advice was for us to write to nparks and hopefully with nparks getting a flood of emails, worded nicely of course, someone higher up will do something abt it.

One of Nparks goals is :
To promote 'green' recreation as a lifestyle

pls refer to the link below
a www.nparks.gov.sg link

with that statement, we can state that cycling is a green recreation as we do not consume oil, unlike cars. well not totally, we still need lubrication. :)

and cycling is indeed a healthy lifestyle.

we can aslo cycling on the roads is dangerous. if anyone wants, they can try to check TP's website for the stats. or u can just give an example of the Australian Olympic team that met with an accident in Germany. There goes Singapore's chance of a gold medal, if that was to happen to our riders that is. well some MTB do cycle on road...

An Ashburn high school student was killed this morning when he failed
to stop at a stop sign while riding his mountain bike at the

collided with a green commercial truck driving north on Ivandale Road
near Hamilton, the Loudoun Sheriff’s Office said.

second person who was riding on the trail to be killed in three days.
Both victims failed to stop at the posted stop signs on the trail,
police said.

when he attempted to cross Route 704 (Hamilton Station Road) without
yielding or stopping and was fatally struck by a car, Loudoun Sheriff’s
Office spokesman Kraig Troxell said.

How to Mountain Bike Tour on Singletrack

Darkness was dropping like fate’s hammer as my friend
Brad and I pedaled furiously toward a distant trailhead. Just before
dark we finally realized that we were waiting at the wrong trail and to
catch up with our food and sleeping bags we needed to cover 6 miles of
technical singletrack in record time. Despite already spending seven
hours in the saddle, we pushed pedals as fast as our weary legs would
turn.

We made it only half-way
before it was officially dark. We stumbled and pushed another two miles
until the air was black as coal. I waved my hand inches in front of my
nose and couldn’t see it at all. Trying to feel out the trail with our
feet, we found ourselves constantly off-route, running into trees and
stepping off little ledges. Convinced we would eventually reach our
